The third book project from my class, (the second was just Japanese bindings) Which is an accordion binding (or concertina).
The top image is my walk from my apartment in Florence, to my school, in spring 2011. The lower more abstract image is a compilation of my sketches from drawing the towers of cities from the train. The covers are the Badia and Bargello towers in Florence.
The interior scenes are labelled:Via dei Neri 10, Palazzo Vecchio, Galleria Uffizi, Orsanmichele, il Duomo (Cathedral), via de'Cerretani, Capelle Medici, Via Sant' Antonino (SACI)
The interior was printed through caran d'ache transfer on acetate. The exterior scenes were done with ink, walnut oil and watercolor directly on the paper. The covers are acrylic on paper.
This was another trip down nostalgia lane, It was also semi-spiteful, because my professor really hated the work I was doing that involved anything Italian. Since my walk to school in State College was lame, and really really painful given the events in November, I went back to the place I'd rather be.
